My Morning

07.6.2009

As I approached the back door to our Richmond home this morning after driving back from a weekend in South Hill, I was already annoyed with myself for leaving my cell phone in the city all weekend. I was about to find out that my phone was the least of my problems.

As I went to unlock the door, this is what I should have looked down to see:

keys-yes

I have an uber-convenient detachable section to my keychain that simply includes my house key and my Gold’s Gym keychain card. It’s great way to take only what I need to the gym. Instead, this is the sight that greeted my astonished eyes:

keys-no

Yep, that uber-convenient detachable keychain turns out to be super inconvenient when you leave your hous key locked in your house next to your cell phone after you wife has already been dropped off at work and you know that if you turn around and drive back to the Federal Reserve you’ll have to park in an unregistered visitor’s spot, then hope to get in as an unregistered visitor, then hope that your wife is avaiable and not in a meeting since you can’t check because her new Blackberry number is in your phonebook which is locked inside your house next to your house key!

So, I did what any adventurous guy would do and broke into my own house. It wasn’t easy, and I’ll make sure it can’t be done again. But just in case you’re curious, here’s a break-in plan that you can try, if you really want (it worked for me):

Groban vs. Gibson

07.5.2009

I was working at Play last week when somebody there mentioned that I looked like Josh Groban. I didn’t think much of it at the time and it wasn’t until a couple of days later that I realized that I didn’t know what Josh Groban looked like. For my sake, I hoped he was a good lookin’ cat, so I voiced my curiosity while working alongside Kelly & Menna.

There was a bit of a silence, so I assumed he wasn’t going to give Robert Pattinson a run for his money any time soon. But as I watched them study their laptop screens, they assured me I didn’t really look too much like Mr. Groban. Then Meena’s eyes widened and she said the Closer album cover was a different story. Check it out:
